Pluses and minusses
The new Belgian Film tax incentive allows legitimate Belgian companies to invest
up to a maximum of € 500.000, provided they are generating a profit of at least
twice this amount.
The invested amount can be split as a loan (40%) and equity (60%).
The companies acquire 150% tax deduction on their pre-tax profit over the full amount
(loan + equity).
Only Belgian registered companies and Belgian annexes of foreign
companies are allowed to invest. The new tax incentive is not appropriate for
individual tax payers.
The investors can only participate in up to 50% of the total production budget
(including bank fees and interest).
There are of course many more important details, such as expenditure requirements,
however these are less important within the confines of this first information
presentation.
